Hyae Ryung (Helen) Kim

Ph.D. Candidate in Sustainable Development

Columbia University

Greeting! I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, and serving as a Research Fellow at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, a joint center of Columbia Law School and Columbia Climate School

I take an interdisciplinary approach to address policy-relevant questions concerning complex climate challenges and develop effective and equitable solutions by comprehending the interaction between natural and social systems. My current research investigates climate risks and sustainable finance, aiming to discern how climate change affects finance and investment, and how economic and financial systems can support pathways toward achieving global sustainable development.

Before joining Columbia, I worked at PwC and the African Development Bank. Additionally, I was a Research Fellow in Innovation Economics at Berlin University of Technology. I hold a B.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering and an M.S. in Technology Management, Economics, and Policy from Seoul National University.

My CV is available here. You can reach me at hyaeryung.kim[at]columbia[dot]edu.
